Abbate y la Mantia Don Jose Shave Cream

As well as containing saffron extract and shea butter, the Don Jose Shave Soap from Abbate y la Mantia contains menthol crystals. Together these ingredients combine both analgesic properties (if applied to the skin it reduces sensitivity by simulating cooling) as well as relieving itching, with a tonic action. The cold acts as a vasoconstrictor and strengthens the walls of the blood vessels that nourish the skin. The scent is an interesting mix of coconut and banana, certainly a fragrance I've not come across before. So if you're looking for a slightly different fruity fragrance then this could be the one for you.

More Information

We were intrigued when Abbate y la Mantia got in touch with us to show us their range of shave soaps and aftershaves. They use traditional methods with a nod to modernity to produce wonderfully unique soaps that both protect and moisturise the skin but which also have a selection of delightfully different fragrances that you won't find elsewhere.

All the soaps contain saffron extract, which has natural antibacterial qualities, and is perfect for those of you who are allergic or intolerant to some of the chemicals found in today's mass produced shaving products. This is combined with shea butter which has excellent moisturising properties and gives maximum protection during shaving.

Why "Don Jose"? - Well, Don José was the founder's grandpa: Giuseppe D’Antoni. A Sicilian farmer and importer of coconuts and bananas in the 19th century in Honduras. At the time they used ice in order to preserve tropical fruits, hence the menthol, and it was a nice way pay to tribute him a soap.

Supplied in a 150g aluminium tin and presented in a stylish box.
