Description
A long cherished wish has finally come true for Boker. Despite it being a long time since they produced the first blanks, they have finally produced a version of their 8/8 razor in Damascus steel. And what a beast it is. Not to be used by those of a nervous disposition and for those with a steady hand only this is indeed a mighty blade. It has jimping to the upper and lower tang, a barber’s notch and has and like all Boker razors an extra hollow grind. The blade has wonderful pattern being the mix of two types of steel and the bigger blade shows this off to its best advantage.
The razor is given a contemporary industrial look with the use of desert ironwood scales, which unlike all the other razors in the Boker range are not pinned, but fastened together with three attractive metal screw plates. The spacer is made of Damascus steel and can be seen through a recess as the scales mirror the barber’s notch at the point. Whilst Thiers Issard use desert ironwood, this is a first for Boker and is a good choice for this design as it is a heavy wood which is robust and durable as well as being water resistant. The Boker marking is laser etched on to the tang and the razor is supplied in a clear display box with a Boker Certificate of Authenticity. Overall this is a stunning piece of craftsmanship and design – though not for the faint hearted perhaps and best left in experienced hands!
