Description
This striking razor from Ralf Aust sports very contemporary scales of wenge wood. This is a hardwood that is medium brown, sometimes having a reddish hue with nearly black streaks, and which has an interesting grain. The front of the scales have a Japanese style design carved in to them which adds to the modern styling. The carbon steel 6/8 blade has a champfered square point which is cut away to a plain spine. The tang has jimping to the top and a plain thumb notch. It has the usual “Ralf Aust Solingen” mark on the tang and the “Solingen Handarbeit” – handmade in Solingen – mark on the blade. All Ralf Aust razors have a full hollow ground blade. All in all, a very distinctive razor from this well regarded artisan maker.
