Description
This 7/8 round point vintage razor bears the brand Sprock and “Made and Ground in Sheffield, England” on the reverse of the tang. The razor has a plain spine and jimping to the upper and lower tang. The scales are of composite, very possibly Bakelite, have a metal spacer. Please see full description.
There is some very minor damage to the stabiliser near the heel, an imperfection in the moulding at one point on the underside of the scales, and pitting from corrosion in the tail. Otherwise the blade and scales are in very good condition.
We have spent some time researching the history of this razor unfortunately without much success. It appears that razors with the “SPROCK” mark and marked “Sheffield” were made by a company called Parton Son & Co. Unfortunately we have been able to find nothing about the company itself except that is was in operation around the early 1900’s.
