Description
This Ralf Aust razor has a 6/8 stainless steel satin finished blade with a round point. The scales are made from smoked oak which is a new addition to our range of scale materials. The blade has the usual “Ralf Aust Solingen” mark on the tang and the “Solingen Handarbeit” – handmade in Solingen – mark on the blade.
Smoked oak is made from white oak which has been exposed to ammonia fumes which darkens the wood without obscuring the natural grain of the wood. The darker the wood the longer it has been exposed. The process makes a pale but strong robust wood usually used in cabinetry look very different. The spine has a flower etched design along the top and the tang has jimping on the upper and lower sides. All Ralf Aust razors have a full hollow ground blade.
