Description
Due to the popularity of the Le Grelot razors we have decided to stock another variant of these new razors under this historic brand recently revived by Thiers Issard. In 1924 Pierre and Louis Thiers exhibited their razors in Algiers and were awarded a gold medal for excellence. The Medaille D’or mark celebrated this achievement. This particular razor has a satin finish to both sides of the blade which bears the historic Le Grelot Medaille D’Or mark, but this time the scales are made from kingwood, a new scale material for us. Kingwood is a hardwood similar to African blackwood and cocobolo and is commonly used as an inlay in furniture. It has a distinctive brownish-purple colour with many fine darker stripes. It has jimping to the lower side of the tang. TI describe the grind of this razor as singing hollowed. All grind descriptions cover a range of grinds and are open to interpretation. To my eye “hollowed” is a better description for this razor. Beautifully presented in a stylish retro cardboard box.
SHAVE READY – Unlike some retailers, our razors are not supplied as they come from the factory. We individually prepare all the razors we sell. For full details see our policy.
