Compared with the other razors in the Merkur range those in the Futur range are considerably heavier, have a larger, bulkier head and a longer handle. The entire razor is finished in smooth brushed chrome without the patterned grips of other models and as such has a more modern contemporary design.
The USP of the razors in the Futur range is that the snap on head secures the blade inside it preventing it from moving around in the cutting head. Turning the razors handle allows you to adjust the amount of the blade that comes into contact with the skin, by creating a larger or smaller blade gap. The smallest is gap is 1 and the widest is 6. It is recommended that to begin with you start at 1, increasing the blade exposure to find the optimum exposure for your beard and skin type. The benefit of this design is that it allows you to experiment and find the perfect shave using only one razor. The sturdy feel of the Futur range makes it a suitable option for those wet shavers with larger hands who feel more comfortable with a larger razor. The blades are replaced by pulling the head plate off the razor.
