Description
This stunning Ralf Aust razor has a 5/8 carbon steel blade with a satin finish, a round point and African blackwood scales. It has the usual “Ralf Aust Solingen” mark on the tang and the “Solingen Handarbeit” – handmade in Solingen – mark on the blade. This razor is similar to the razor with code IE280023, yet different in 2 subtle ways. Firstly the beautiful olivewood inlaid scales have a more contempoary shape and secondly, the spine has a champfered point, giving the round point a slightly more modern look.
The African blackwood scales vary in colour from dark red to almost black and is a like a cross between cocobolo and ebony. This type of wood a good choice as it is robust and has water repellent properties which means that the scales will retain their appeal. But what makes these scales different from our other razors bearing african blackwood scales is the olivewood inlay which adds a beautiful contrast. The tang has jimping to both the upper and lower sides and the spine has a laser etched flower pattern to the top. All in all this goes to show that beautiful things do come in small sizes ! All Ralf Aust razors have a full hollow ground blade.
